Software
Before evolving into a group, albeit doing some great work – and from time to time being forced to reinvent the wheel – we were working for software companies and production studios (see our portfolio). We are proud to have been contributing to the formers’ award-winning softwares which created some of the most stunning effects by the latter. From them we learned a lot. This valuable experience culminated into our maturity and the consequent desire of independence.
Nowadays the /*jupiter jazz*/ group writes software tools under consultancy services to respond custom needs in the realms of visual imagery for clients in diametrically different markets, from VFX to product design to visual arts.
First of all we contributed (an in some cases still contribute) to some 3rd part commercial tools which are widely available and known in the indusrty. Then we have our own research software, developed on jupiter. Some other tools we refer to as framework stools are available for any client: these are not finished products but in fact “frameworks” that we tailor to fit your needs, under consulting agreement. Finally, we try our best to release any tools that can be useful to the community as Open Source.
Drop us a line if you need a new tool, our frameworks tools, develop on top of your tools, or if you want any modifications of our OpenSource tools, all under consulting agreement:
3rd part commercial tools
This is a short list of 3rd part software tools where our contribution was significant. You can get these tools from the respective companies:

- 3Delight for Softimage – D’nA Research
- 3Delight, RenderMan compliant renderer – D’nA Research
- Maya – Alias|wavefront (now Autodesk)
- Studio Tools – Alias|wavefront (now Autodesk)
- mental ray – mental images
- neuray (one of the renderers of reality server) – mental images
- Vue d’Esprit – e-on software
Research tools
Our in-house research software (currently not available to the public):

e.g. mental ray Architectural material for: 3Delight, PRMan, VRay, Arnold - Maya shaders porting
we can rewrite all shaders of Maya in any API/SL shaders, for any renderer
e.g. Maya Ocean shader for 3Delight, PRMan, VRay, Arnold - Maya Fluids Toolset porting

We can rewrite the entire Maya Fluids pipeline (Maya exporter, volume shader, raymarcher plugin) in any API/SL, for any renderer.Products available (e-mail for infos):

render any Maya particle system volumetrically, with any ad hoc shader on any renderer
OpenSource tools
We strongly believe in openness collaboration and the opensource philosophy.
We try to release many of our tools as OpenSource projects under proper licensing schemes. Here’s a list of what is currentlyavailable and what we contributed to.
- Jupiter Paint Effects to Particles
Converts Maya Paint Effects brushes to Maya Particles
https://code.google.com/p/jupiterpfx2particles/ - Jupiter Ocean Toolkit
Which basically is Houdini Ocean Toolkit, for Maya
currently unpublished - Jupiter Make Tiled EXR
Converts an OpenEXR texture of *any* resolution, into the tiled version of it
https://code.google.com/p/jupitermaketiledexr/ - Jupiter File Cache
A general purpose, multi location, multi process, thread safe file cache class with an example PRMan shadeop.
